The Valley is serviced by Delta, Horizon/Alaskan Air, Northwest, and Big Sky airlines out of the Glacier International Airport in Kalispell 35 minutes north. Rental vehicles and shuttle services are also available at the airport by the major carriers. Amtrak is located just 40 minutes north in Whitefish. The village of Bigfork is located at 2,900 feet above sea level and sits where the Swan River spills into Flathead Lake. The weather is cool and maritime influenced. Summer highs are in the 80's to the 90's with evenings cooler for sleeping. Winter temps can range from 20degrees to 50 degrees during the day. The Islander Inn and the Raven Pub are surrounded by cherry orchards, huckleberry bushes and cooled by the clean air off the lake. Area Activities: Bigfork Offers Year-Round Enjoyment Spring brings the runoff and the world class kayakers to the Bigfork Whitewater Festival. The course is considered one of the toughest and most dangerous courses in the American Whitewater Association. During the summer The Bigfork Summer Playhouse produces highly acclaimed stock theater. Broadway hits have been performed for the past 46 years. Every Sunday catch a concert in Sliter's Park with the Riverbend Music Concert Series The Fourth of July brings fun and an old fashioned celebration for all. Watch fireworks from around the lake from the decks of the Raven Pub. The Bigfork Festival of the Arts fills main street Bigfork with art and artists during the first weekend in August. Make your room reservations early. During the middle of November local “elves” turn out and decorate the town for the holidays. The town glistens in festive colors until January. January 1 of each year brings hundreds to the Raven Pub to participate in the 13 th (2006) annual Polar Bear Plunge at 2pm. Join us and start your year right! The “hot” chili feed starts at 10am.
